How nexFIT and mobileXware came to be...
The evolution of nexFIT is rooted in the idea of having a simple guide to physical fitness routines that can be done without any equipment or a gym. Co-inventors Jason Ryer and Joel Lenorovitz both realized the need for such a product while working and living in places with very limited access to exercise facilities - Jason as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia and Joel as a technician aboard a scientific research ship in Antarctica. Jason would sometimes use a standard deck of playing cards to help vary his exercise routine and then later discovered another deck of cards specifically made for that purpose, with pictures and simple instructions for exercises. Both Jason and Joel have since become avid users of these exercise cards and have found them to be a great way to create a routine that is fun, varied, and easy to adhere to. As aficionados of technology, the idea came to the co-inventors to take the exercise card concept and adapt it for use on portable electronic devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), music players (e.g., iPods), and mobile phones. With the invention Jason and Joel plan to keep the simplicity of the card concept, add features that utilize the computing ability of the mobile devices, and help promote fitness among the increasingly large audience of mobile device users.

Parque Amboro, Bolivia.
Prior to working full time at mobileXware on its initial nexFIT product, Jason worked for various social development organizations in Bolivia. There he spent more than three years promoting technology education as a Peace Corps volunteer, founder of a non profit, and consultant for Save the Children. Jason's accomplishments in Bolivia include teaching and training community members, securing funding for and building a computer center in a rural village, distributing 200 computers to 15 villages throughout the country, and initiating Save the Children's technology education program outside of La Paz.
Jason received an MBA from the University of Colorado, worked at IBM for five years in Boulder, Boston and New York, and received a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
Outside of mobileXware, Jason enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, volleyball, basketball, physical fitness, and spending time with family and friends.
